WINTER WILD & CRAFTY    Gr. K-3
Design a “Winter Bouquet” from materials gathered from nature.  Create a healthy treat for the birds in your yard!  Make unique recycled paper and use this to frame a favorite picture or drawing!  Do all of these and more as you see how nature and art can come together.

WILD WINTER WEATHER    Gr. K-3
Make it snow inside!  Drill a hole in ice with a plastic straw!   What makes clouds float . . . and snow fall through them?  Explore all these wonders and more in our weather simulation labs.

THE SCIENCE OF MAGIC / THE MAGIC OF SCIENCE    Gr. K-3 
Discover the science behind some great tricks and some cool science that can fool your friends!  Use high tech and the web to learn some amazing illusions, plus free admission to our semi-annual Magic Show!  Have a great time perfecting your magic tricks and science experiments.  Conjure up wondrous illusions, feats of prestidigitation and legerdemain.  Magic kits will also be available in our “Pinnacle Science Store”.

RADICAL ROBOTICS    Gr.  K - 3
Lego Robotics!  Design a lunar rover for our moon buggy derby using robots controlled with LEGO Mindstorms.  Create solutions to engineering problems - we have everything you need to become a master robot builder!

WHAT’S BEHIND THIS WEIRD WEATHER?    Gr. 4-8
We’ll track a snowstorm from its birth into a raging blizzard using Doppler Radar, satellite images and special software in our weather lab.  Learn how to predict the fickle weather of Connecticut and enjoy the beauties of ice and snow.

WHERE CAN WIRELESS LEAD?    Gr. 4-8
Every day in our lives we encounter some form of wireless communication, from a simple television remote, to cellular phones, to global satellite communications from the other side of the world.  Explore electronic communications as you learn about some of these wireless devices. This class will also prepare individuals with the information necessary for achieving the Technician’s class license in Ham Radio.  No Morse Code required!

SHOCKINGLY SIMPLE    Gr. 4-8
Switch on to electronics. Create simple circuits with buzzers, bulbs, and billions of electrons! Understand what it takes to make such practical items such as doorbells, electromagnets, radios and motors.

WOW! - 3D VIDEO     Gr. 4-8
Have some real fun with television production techniques and digital video editing.  Create your own 3D video.  Objects will seem to float and fly and jump out of your pictures!

TRANSPORTATION
Bus transportation is provided to and from the Science Center. No private cars are to drive to the Science Center. 

Bus stops:  West Hartford Library, Starkel Road (Bishop's Corner) or Avon, Board of Education (34 Simsbury Rd / Rt 10)

Bus will leave West Hartford at 9:00 AM and return at 3:15 PM  -  Bus will leave Avon at 9:15 PM and return at 3:30 PM
